A fabulous effort by all of our Year 5 and 6 runners as they competed in a hugely competitive field, and adverse weather conditions, with over 90 children competing in each race.
Spurred on by massive support from each other and our supportive parents we looked really snazzy in our new (make you run faster) running shirts.
Some fantastic individual performances saw Joel Maclean-Howell finish 1st in the Year 6 boys race, and equally impressive was sister Ella who was just pipped to finish second in a competitive Year 6 girls race.
A really strong finish from Reuben who pulled through the field to finish in an impressive 6th place. Toby came home just outside the top 10 with a really strong finish. The rest of the Year 6 boys Luke, Jake, Geraint and Owen also finished strongly - well inside the top 30 of the huge field, with lots great team running on show.
Nicola also pushed her way through to finish just outside the top 10 and an amazing 19th place by Amelie in her first competitive race! There was a wonderful team running from Sophia and Maisie (also in their first competitive outing) who ran side by side all the way round and crossed the finish line together.
In a really strong Year 5 field Luke Bowling had an impressive top 20 finish and there was also strong home straight running by Kyedon and Calum. Again impressive team running was displayed by Shaun and Joe who pushed each other all the way to the finish line.
Another strong performance by Mia Williams who led the Year 5 girls home well inside the top 20 and not far behind were Caitlin and Sophie who pushed each other across the line and gained lots of ground during the race. There was more awesome team running from Olivia and Morgan who pushed themselves all the way to the finish line.
My overall verdict was that there was clearly some highly impressive individual running but the icing on the cake was the work as a team, masses of support and encouragement the children gave to each other in testing conditions. Here are some team photos captured from the day:

Looking forward to our next outing, maybe a little less rain would be in order!
